We're going to Wembley!!

Well, I do apologize for not writing on here for a while, its been absolutely manic with the end of the season in sight. Last thursday I had the meeting with talkSPORT who took my demo away to listen to, after a 2pm meeting I raced up to Shrewsbury to report on them against Bury in the League 2 play off semi final. After getting back to the studio quite late I had an e-mail waiting for me from talkSPORT who were 'very impressed' with my demo and want me to do a couple of games for them next season. Friday, myself George and Stu went up to Gateshead (what a lovely place) :-| to commentate on AFC Telford Utd's game againsy Gateshead FC in the Blue Sqaure North play off final of which Telford lost. Getting back at 4am in the morning was good fun and fortunately I had saturday off. Sunday I had to be up at 6am to get up to Bury for a 12pm kick off and the 2nd leg of the play off semi final's in League 2. Shrewsbury Town won on penalty's and we are now going to wembley to cover the League 2 play off final on saturday!! How jammy am I, my first season as a football commentator and i'm commentating at wembley!! Live commentary from Beacon Radio's 'Game On' and build up starts from 8am from Wembley Way!!!!

If it was easy, everyone would do it

Having met up with BBC WM sports editor Mark Regan on monday I have no realized that the BBC are officially crippled. There are no jobs there at all which is really disappointing as its a company I really want to work for. I've been told by various people at 5Live not to get ahead of myself to quickly; but I can't help wanting it more then anything surely? I have no made talkSPORT the priority for the moment. TalkSPORT is also a company I would relish the opportunity to work for. Actually, thinking about it, its the station I listen to most and I would probably go as far as saying its the station I love to listen to the most. I am still waiting for a reply from the boss' PA at talkSPORT. I have e-mailed her a couple of times now but don't want to become a pest. As my nan quite rightly pointed out, i'm in a 'no win situation' at the moment. I've been told by my producer at Beacon, Stu Haycock that I will be commentating this weekend. Its only Telford - Droylesden, but I still can't wait; if it happens that is. Just had a text from Dad, him and Mom have landed in Xian after leaving Hong Kong. I must admit this far eastern tour they have been on must have been a great experience and one I plan to do myself one day; but I have missed them. It will be strange when they come back. I've kind of gotten used to living on my own, then again, there's only so much conversation you can get out of the cat. Anyway i'm giving myself an hour before I pop of to Beacon to se what the hoot i'm doing this weekend.

Speak to you later

Cheers

Beautiful game, beautiful place

After getting back into Birmingham New Street the day after reporting on Scunthorpe - Walsall I had one thing on my mind - Paris! A name we are all so familiar with yet know so little about. I couldn't wait, especially as we were going to Disney Land (which is always good fun). The whole trip was an amazing experience from the 'rock n rollercoster' to 'peter pan'. The journey home was not so enjoyable, looking after Lauren who had quite clearly got a case of food poisoning after eating some seriously dodgy tuna. Both Lauren and Erin where puking their guts up and I along with Mike were given the task of getting them back to London and then Birmingham in one piece. The people around us were very helpful, offering help when appropriate whilst I ran up and down the isle with bags of sick and just genuine mong in both hands; emptying them down the toilet. I felt so sorry for both of the girls as me and Mike went to get something to eat haven not eaten since early afternoon in Paris. After a steady journey back to Birmingham a lift from Geraldine was a sight for sore eyes as we went back to the house for a sandwich and a cup of coffee. After downloading the photo's of Paris to my laptop I thought a visit to the grandparent's would be appropriate to give them presents and show them photo's of the trip. Finally getting home gone 7pm I get a phone call from Mike (dads best mate) who see's how I am. Checking up on e-mails, Dion clawing the shit out of things (preferably my leg) and crying every 2 minutes I soon get back into the swing of things and the routine of living in Birmingham. Another day tomorrow, which will consist mainly of me trying to find out which obscure location Beacon want to send me to this weekend.
